Treating Tinnitus with Hyperbaric Oxygenation.
نویسنده
چکیده
Hyperbaric Oxygenation permits a controlled increase of the partial oxygen pressure in the blood. This technique can be used in cases of tinnitus and sudden deafness when the development in the inner ear and the brain lead to a lack of oxygen and so to a limited energy provision. The results to date allow the recommendation to apply an oxygen high pressure therapy when standard treatments have failed. One can work on an improvement rate of 60-65% with tinnitus. HBO therapy should start as soon as possible. Especially in cases of sudden deafness the success depends on a speedy application of HBO. The HBO therapy broadens the spectrum of treatment possibilities for tinnitus and sudden deafness.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy for idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss and tinnitus: a systematic review of randomized controlled trials.
BACKGROUND Idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSHL) and tinnitus are common. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) may improve hearing loss and/or reduce the intensity of tinnitus. METHODS We performed a systematic search of the literature for randomized controlled trials, and made pooled analyses of pre-determined clinical outcomes where possible. RESULTS Six trials contributed to t...

Background: Idiopathic Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss (ISSHL) affects about 15,000 people annually worldwide and exceeds 30 db at 3 contiguous audiometric frequencies. This study aims at evaluating the clinical efficacy of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO2) in the management of ISSHL. Material and Methods: Fifty six patients were enrolled in the study suffering from ISSHL and tinnitus. The res...

OBJECTIVE To analyze the association of insuflation maneuvers status before hyperbaric oxygen therapy with middle ear barotrauma. MATERIALS AND METHODS Fouty-one patients (82 ears) admitted to the Department of Hyperbaric Medicine from May 2011 to July 2012. Assessments occurred: before and after the first session, after sessions with symptoms. During the evaluations were performed: otoscopy ...
متن کاملHyperbaric oxygen for idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss and tinnitus.
BACKGROUND Idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSHL) with or without tinnitus is common and presents a health problem with significant effect on quality of life. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) may improve oxygen supply to the inner ear and thereby result in an improvement in hearing and/or a reduction in the intensity of tinnitus. OBJECTIVES To assess the benefits and harms of HB...
